I had the pleasure of being invited to photograph the Kirk PTO's Color Run this past weekend. I was a little weary of all that colorful dust and my camera, but I stood upwind from the *danger*. I had a lot of fun doing these pictures and captured some really great shots. It was also cool to see so many familiar faces as I am also a substitute teacher at Kirk as well as a volunteer whenever I get the chance. I hope they ask me to do this again next year because I imagine it'll grow even more in popularity now that everyone realized what a fun time it was!

Welcome to my photography blog, although I have a feeling there will be more to it than that!
I'll start with an introduction. My name is Nichole and I am, and always have been, in love with photography. From a young age I loved taking pictures. My first camera took 110 film and had some weird cube type flash thingy on it (anyone remember those?!?). I remember the anticipation of taking my film to the drugstore and waiting for the film to be developed. Back then it took about a week before you would receive your pictures. As I got older and became gainfully employed I would find myself too busy for photography, and sometimes when I would finally finish a roll of 35 mm film I would be surprised at how much time had gone by from the first shot to the last. By then you could develop your film in an hour, so the anticipation wasn't quite so bad. Now with digital photography the wait is nearly non existent! You can see your images as you take them, and then put them on your computer and share with friends within minutes. You just have to love progress! I thought I had found my dream job when I landed myself in a photo lab at a big chain store. Except it's not as cool as you'd think, you don't get to actually see the pictures going through, unless it's a really slow day. And trust me, sometimes you wish you hadn't been able to see what was running through the machine!
So anyway, as I was saying... My name is Nichole. I'm a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, honorary Nana, self-employed (kind of) busy gal who is trying to turn my passion into a career. I started off taking pictures of family, friends, pets, trees, clouds, bugs, flowers, and anything random that caught my fancy. I received compliments on my photos and was asked why I didn't do this photography thing professionally. So here I am, giving it a go. I've got years and years of practice, but lots more to learn. As with anything in life, there's always room for improvement. I learn something new with each photo shoot. I love looking for ideas online and am happy to take advice on poses and props or locations from my subjects.
If you're interested in helping me evolve my skills, shoot me an email to set up a session!
